Why Ob/Gyn?
I really enjoy having the opportunity to care for women throughout the many stages of their lives. And having the privilege of delivering babies is simply awesome!
What are your clinical interests within our specialty?
I particularly enjoy contraceptive visits, prenatal care, and surgery. There is so much misconception surrounding the various methods of birth control. I love discussing the methods available and helping women find the method that will work for them. Helping women navigate the joys and challenges of pregnancy never gets old to me. It is a unique time in a woman’s life, and I love helping them through it. Surgery is also incredibly rewarding. I love being able to offer women potentially lifesaving and quality-of-life-improving procedures such as hysterectomy.
Why Ob/Gyn Associates?
I am originally from north central Iowa. I did an undergrad at the University of Iowa and then went to St. Louis for medical school. I always knew I wanted to return to Iowa to practice. I was fortunate enough to come back to the University of Iowa for residency. I joined Ob/Gyn Associates right after residency. The group really impressed me with their commitment to offering high-quality care to all the women of the Des Moines Metro. Few doctors are lucky enough to find a job they love right out of residency. I feel very fortunate to have found this group. All the doctors and our clinic staff are truly amazing!
Why should a patient choose our practice for their care?
Our physicians, providers, nurses, CMAs, and office staff are simply the best! We are a small, independent practice which is not owned by either major health system. This means we can truly put our patients first and are not simply cogs in a large corporation. Our doctors are committed to continuing education to provide our patients the most up-to-date, evidence-based care.
Why Des Moines?
Honestly, it was OBGYN Associates that drew me to the area. I loved the group and knew I wanted to practice with them. My husband and I have since fallen in love with the metro area and have no plans to ever leave! Des Moines has so much to offer in a city that still feels close-knit and down-to-earth.
How do you spend time outside of work?
When I’m not working I enjoy spending time with my husband, 2 kids and our 2 ridiculous cats! We enjoy taking our kids on trips, swimming, hanging out with extended family, and amusement parks. I also love anything that involves live music, spending multiple days at the State Fair and Hawkeye Football!
